Dr. John Miglietta on Hugo Chavez, Venezuela, and Latin American Policy

Miglietta Receives 2010 Green Nomination
On Saturday, February 20, 2010, the Green Party of Tennessee held its annual state meeting and nominating convention in Knoxville, Tennessee. Among the routine business was discussion of the ballot access lawsuit against the state of Tennessee. The state party platform was revised, and vacant party offices were filled. John Miglietta was nominated to run for the U.S. Congress in the Fifth District of Tennessee, serving Nashville, Davidson County, and parts of Cheatham and Wilson Counties. All present pledged monetary and volunteer support and were excited about taking Southern Green politics to the next level. It is vitally important that all Miglietta supporters contact the campaign as soon as possible to facilitate campaign planning. Congratulations to Dr. John Miglietta, and thanks to Greens everywhere.

Why the Green Party of Tennessee Chose John Miglietta

The Green Party of Tennessee nominated John P. Miglietta as their candidate for Tennessee's Fifth District U.S. House seat at their nominating convention on May 3, 2010 in Music City, USA. John Miglietta's keen grasp of the vital issues confronting us, combined with his warm personality and dedication to peaceful resolution of conflict, make him ideally suited to serve in the United States Congress. He is an Associate Professor of Political Science at Tennessee State University. As a scholar, Dr. Miglietta is trained to think critically, examining problems, solutions, and purported facts from all angles - as George Bush's Iraqi WMD statements should have been, but were not. As an educator, Dr. Miglietta can present complex ideas persuasively, in a down to earth fashion. He understands the true purpose of history, which is to help us avoid future mistakes by studying those of the past, such as the Vietnam War or the many failed attempts by European countries to occupy and control North African and Middle Eastern nations. As a political scientist, he understands the workings of government. His Green Party background is the best guarantee that Middle Tennessee's vote on United States alternative energy policy will be guided by ecological wisdom, sustainability, and social justice rather than by corporate greed.
As author of American Alliance Policy in the Middle East: 1945-1992, (available from Barnes & Noble), Dr. Miglietta is a valuable addition to any debate or discussion of American foreign policy in the Middle East at any level, making him a great asset to the United States' Congress, and bringing credit to the state of Tennessee and the voters of the Fifth Congressional District.
Please vote for John Miglietta on November 2, 2010. It is time for change in the United States House of Representatives.

Important Green Party Facts for Tennesseans

Under Tennessee's current unduly restrictive ballot access laws, John Miglietta will appear as an Independent or (I) on the November ballot, despite being nominated by the Green Party of Tennessee. He is also endorsed by the Green Party of Middle Tennessee, which serves Nashville and the Fifth Congressional District. The Green Party, in concert with the Libertarian and Constitution Parties, has filed suit against the Secretary of State and the State for the basic right to have their candidates identified as to party with a proper ballot line. Don't you think that all candidates should be properly labeled, so that busy voters with families can vote for their principles without investigating every detail of every candidate? Not everyone is a Democrat or Republican. The Green Party is proud to work with the Libertarians and the Constitution Party on Grassroots Democracy, one of our Ten Key Values which every truly patriotic American shares with us.
The Green Party of the United States is one of the four national political parties recognized by the Federal Election Commission: Democratic, Republican, Libertarian, and Green. It is a confederation of state Green Parties. Amost every state Green Party in America is affiliated with the Green Party of the United States.
